Absolute alcohol is een veel voorkomende naam voor de chemische verbinding ethaan ik. Om als 'absoluut' te kwalificeren, mag de ethylalcohol niet meer dan één procent water bevatten. Met andere woorden, absolute alcohol is vloeistof alcohol die ten minste 99 procent pure alcohol per gewicht is.
Ethanol is een kleurloze vloeistof met molecuulformule CtweeH5OH. Het is de alcohol die wordt aangetroffen in alcoholische dranken.
